Melissa Armstrong is a communications and public relations professional supporting both federal and private sector clients at Concepts Communications. She brings more than seven years of experience to the team, with a strong background in communications and outreach strategy, media relations, writing and messaging, and social media management.
At Concepts Communications, Melissa supports several initiatives funded by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy (DOL/ODEP), including the Employer Assistance and Resource Network on Disability Inclusion (EARN) and ePolicyWorks. For these projects, she helps develop and implement communications strategies that promote, inform and influence disability employment policies and workforce inclusion and equity at the national, state and local levels.
Melissa also supports the management of the U.S. Department of Labor’s Employment Laws Assistance for Workers and Small Businesses (elaws), Worker.gov and Employer.gov websites, as well as several private-sector projects. For example, she provides outreach and communications support for the Clear2Connect Coalition to help advance communications access for people who are deaf or hard of hearing. She also provides media relations support for the Disability Rights Advocates and the 2gether-International and Google for Startups Tech Cohort. Previously, Melissa helped develop communications and social media plans for the Mid-Atlantic ADA Center and the National Technical Assistance Center on Transition: The Collaborative (NTACT:C).
Prior to joining Concepts Communications, Melissa worked at a public relations and digital agency based in Washington, DC. In previous roles, she focused on a variety of B2B and B2G technology client accounts across the health-tech, higher education and hospitality sectors, as well as clientele in sports and restaurant industries. Melissa worked in several different public relations positions that strengthened her experience and contributed to her passion for results-driven communications.
Melissa graduated from George Mason University in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in Sport Management and a minor in Legal Studies.
