Val Ruland-Schwartz is an award-winning creative director with more than 20 years of design, communications, art direction, and integrated marketing experience. She has an extensive background that includes designing brand identities, collateral, websites, applications, and advertising campaigns for high-profile clients such as The Washington Post, the U.S. Army, The Better Business Bureau, AIGA (the professional association for design), the U.S. Geological Survey, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Smithsonian, and the U.S. Department of Labor, among other government entities. Val has done substantial work in the disability arena and has a unique understanding of designing various media, including websites, for both accessibility and usability.
As a consultant, Val has designed numerous accessible websites and campaigns for the Campaign for Disability Employment, U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy’s (DOL/ODEP) State Exchange on Employment & Disability (SEED), the Clear2Connect Coalition, and the Employer Assistance and Resource Network on Disability Inclusion.
Val is a member of the International Association of Accessibility Professionals (IAAP) and AIGA the Professional Association for Design.
